The Predigtstuhl Rest Center was a US Army hotel operated by the Berchtesgaden Recreation Area for military personnel in the 1940s/early 1950s and was known as one of the most popular winter sports centers in the Berchtesgaden Recreation Area. The Berg Hotel, as it was officially known, could be reached after a 12-minute ride in a cable car. The hotel's Starlight Room offered excellent food and music to blend with the mountain view. The image below is a German postcard from the early 1950s, after the hotel had been derequisitioned by the Army and returned to its original owners.
