Fort Apache, Passau, early 1960s (Source: Mike Dolan) On occasion I would run a 1 1/2 ton supply truck from Straubing to Passau. I guess one time I took the camera. This photo shows the 'Fort Apache' name at the gate. I believe one platoon of the 619 eng. bridging was stationed there. As I recall there was not much to the place. Also some CIA spooks.
