Looking for anyone who had male relative with last name of ROBINSON (caucasion) who was serving in the US Army between the time frame of April 1946 through June 1946 and was known to have been stationed in or around Mannheim or Seckenheim, Germany then. Not sure what unit, but I do have a Directory and Station List of all units that were in Europe as of March 3, 1947. Thanks. I would really appreciate some help here.

I was originally assigned to the "A" trp. 3 Sqd. 12th CAV in Budingen, FRG I was an Armor crewman, the CAV had M551 Sheridans at that time, and I was only trained on M60s. After AIT I had gotten some additional training for the "Redeye" shoulder fired missile (father of the modern day "Stinger" missile) ...When you get this additional training an attachment is added to your MOS, Sheridan training was "R8", ..."Redeye" was "R6" ...I should have guessed what was going to happen. SO I was mis-assigned to "A" trp. and put OJT on the platoon Sgt's track. About 4-5 months later I was waiting in the chow line talking to a buddy about being at Ft Bliss, the guy next to me over heard me talking about being Redeye trained, seems HQ trp. (where the Redeye Section was) was going thought a Division test and they were short of people! So I was "temporarily" sent to the Redeye Section just to help them thought the test. Unfortunately for "A" trp. my team got number one in Div. and HQ. trp. never let me go back! I served there from 9/73 to 2/76, I ended up as the Redeye Section Sgt. for a period of time. One of the best times of my life!

I served with the 42nd Ordinance Company 85th Batallion, 7th Army located on Pioneer Kasern, Wolfgang (Hanau) Germany 1960-1962.
I was in the 3rd DS platoon. I was a 5 ton wrecker operator and we were mostly on the road as a direct support unit assisting other units in the area.
I have made contact with one person through this web site and was able to get him in touch with a person in his platoon he had asked about.
I married a German girl and we are still together (48 yrs.)
Recently retired after 30 plus years with a city municipality and still reside on the west coast.
My wife and I have returned numerous times to Germany and have been back on Pioneer and some of the other Kaserns in the area. Hope to be returning again soon.
Would like to hear from any of you that were there with the 42nd. during the same time frame.
This is my second posting, My first posting I was contacted by one of the guys and was able to get him jn touch with one of his buddies,

Good site and especially appreciated the maps. I was stationed at USAFE HQ 1966-1969. My wife and I lived on the economy for two years and then base housing (apartment building next to the American Community center and across from the Kur Park) for the third year. I traveled extensively to US and NATO bases all over Europe during the first year and then moved to a job with little travel for the remainder. My wife and I traveled all over. It was a great experience and we really enjoyed our time in Wiesbaden.

It would be nice if this site could link old friends, comrads in arms, through email or network. Hundreds of thousands of us spent a large part of our lives and those of our families stationed in Germany planning, preparing and training for its defense. I spent 5 years in Bamberg with 3rd Brigade of the 1st Armored Division 1973-1977 and loved Bavaria and saw our Army go from a terrible one of ill-discipline with awful race and drug problems to a well trained, disciplined force we could be proud of again.

I served at Daley Barracks, Bad Kissingen from 1971-1975. I arrived there when it was the 2 /14 cav until the redesignation to the 2/11 cav. We then were issued the famous black berets. We spent many nights out on the OP shacks at Camp Wollbach. I was the Sgt E-5 section chief for the radar surveillance group. We worked out of the HQ. S-2 section, F troop. You were a great group of guys. Great memories. After the military I became the Director of Real Estate for a major southwest Indian tribe and provided expert testimony before the United States Senate Investigating Committees. I now am a hedge fund manager in Scottsdale Az. Best wishes to you all! ALLONS!
