The general is checking out some of the items being sold at what is probably a Christmas bazaar in Stuttgart, Germany, in December 1954. These bazaars were annual events on Army posts at which goods made by the women's organizations were sold and the proceeds donated to local charities. In the picture with Gen. McAuliffe is his daughter, Patricia, helping sell the items. Helping her are Mrs. Thomas McDonald and Mrs. Howard Bottomley.
