486L System
Composite map of the 486L MEDCOM System, 1964.
I found the Original Paper  ITT Drawings in my File System. These drawings indicate the Big Rally 2 sites that were to be de-commissioned. My understanding of Big Rally 2 was that it was a temporary extension of the Ace High System  When I was in the UK from 1965 to 1968, Ringstead was already Operational. It was to be a fail safe until the new routes through Holland and Belgium could be upgraded with newer technology. Some of the other Engineers and Techs that I worked with referred to both Ace High, North Atlantic Radio System (NARS) and Big Rally 2. We jumped through a lot of hoops when France made NATO Foreign Forces leave France in 1966. We had to find other routes around France.  I was on several BR 2 sites in that time frame one was we Called Tolfa, North of Rome. The Antennas are still visible when view on Google Earth
