Webmaster note: The school's website (it is now known as the Hauptschule der Franziskannerinnen and is located on Vogelweiderstrasse 2-4 in Wels) indicates that the school building was constructed in 1928/29. During WWII, one third of the school building was damaged during Allied bombing in ealry 1945. After the end of the war, the building was first used as a hospital and then to house former concentration camp inmates and refugees. At some point (1947?) the US Army requisitioned the building for its own use and occupied the building until 1953. In Dec 12955, the building was returned to the original owners. |
