Boehmer
Army Airfield, Hoppstädten-Weiersbach, 1995
Aerial
view of Hoppstädten Army Airfield (also known
as Boehmer AAF). Not much is known about the history
of this airfield to date except that it housed flying
units from 1956 till 1973. "Happy Valley,"
as it was called, was infamous for its bad weather.
Later it was used as a maintenance facility of some
kind and weather diversion airfield for Baumholder.
It was returned to the German government during the
early nineties. Today it is used as a civilian airfield.
