Hallo all that people from the USA.

In these days while most troops left Germany, it is very interesting to See
what happened the last 68 years.. I was born in 66 and I grew up with GI\'s
and also had classmates from the USA.
I love this site with all that history and I hope that nobody will never forget the past.

Thank you for this site and it\'s memories

I was hoping someone might be able to help me. My grandfather served in Germany from around December 1952 to May 1954. He was with the 28 Infantry division and was a cannoneer in Battery C of the 108th Field Artillery. His name was Roy Nelson and was from Stoughton WI. I am hoping someone can help me with where he would have been located in Germany. He passed away from ALS in 1989 and the VA is now saying that ALS is a presumed to be caused by his service in the military for more the 90 days. If anyone that reads this can be of some help to me I would really appreciate it. I am hoping to see if there could be a chance that there could be some kind of connection of his ALS to the time he was in Germany. Thank you.

I served with the 42nd Ordinance Company 85th Batallion, 7th Army located on Pioneer Kasern, Wolfgang (Hanau) Germany 1960-1962.
I was in the 3rd DS platoon, was a 5 ton wrecker operator and we were mostly on the road as a direct support unit assisting other units in the area.
I have made contact with one person through this web site and was able to get him in touch with a person in his platoon he had asked about.
I married a German girl and we are still together (51 yrs.)
Recently retired after 30 plus years with a city municipality and still reside on the west coast.
My wife and I have returned numerous times to Germany and have been back on Pioneer and some of the other Kaserns in the area. Hope to be returning again soon.
Prior to meeting my wife I spent many nights at the Jolly Bar listing to the Tielman Brothers.
Would like to hear from any of you that were there with the 42nd. during the same time frame.
Would also like to hear from any one that was with the 42nd after I left to catch up on what happened with the 42nd.

They remain some great memories and a few pictures inside and outside of the Kaserne. It would be great to hear from Sgt. Wilson, Frank Prince, Basil Chisholm and any others serving at McNair at that time. If I remember right the 299th Combat Engrs shared the Kaserne with us.

This message goes out to any veteran who served in any Base Post Office in Germany from 1950-1955. My grandfather was a Private First Class in the 312th Base Post Office also known as the 28th BAse Post Office. If anyone could relay what types of operations they did and or where they served it would be greatly appreciated. If you knew my grandfather Frank H. Tweedie, then that would be even more appreciated. Thanks.

Hi, I was trained on 412L system in 1966 and 1969 at Keesler AFB, Biloxi and working on the system from 1965 to 1971 at Messstetten, Germany.
The bunker site at Messtetten is going to be shut down this year.
But before that, about 50 of the former soldiers, formerly working at that place, are conducting a meeting in the barracks form 27th to 28th April this year.
If somebody is interested, I would be glad, to send some Information and pictures from the meeting.

A new year and another thank you is due to Walter Elkins for preserving important historical information about the Air Force and its mission in Germany from the 1960s through the 1980s. Interested parties can go to NATO Commands and click on both HQ 4th ATAF and Tactical Air Control System to find the Air Force information. There is more information about the 412L weapons control system the Air Force manned in Germany on this site than can be found anywhere on the web. An amazing fact for an Army site!! Thank you Walter for preserving a piece of Air Force history...a job well done!

I was TDY out of the 34th Signal Bn in Ludwigsberg for my entire tour from 1966 to 1968. I spent that time stationed at a remote relay site in Reisenbach. The sites call name was initially Keiser Relay and then changed to Jessup Relay during my stay. Our radio shot was between Swabish Hall and Wurstburg. Great duty with only 6 to 7 army personal, and from time to time joined by 2 or 3 Air Force signal guys.

Needless to say, great duty and made great friends. Other than and exception or two, eveyone was a draftee. Combine that with the highest rank being an E5, ration money ( we purchased our food either at the commissary in Heidelberg which was about 50k\'s away or on the German economy ), and isolation pay, well, times were as good as it could get.

We are always looking for Army or AF personal that spent time at the site over the years. You can google Reisenbach and find a web site that is managed by one of the guys.

Have a great new year... !
