1976
(Source: Email from James D. Robinson)

I was assigned to the 568th Engineer Company on 3 DEC 1976 as an E1 62K10.

The battalion existed as otherwise written BEFORE 1980. I DEROS'd from the battalion 19 MAY 1979 as an E5 62E20.

However, I do not recall a
567th Company being on Pioneer Kaserne, least ways, it wasn't in the battalion area. Whether that unit actually existed or not is not known to me.

Sometime in 1978 (I don't recall the exact date), the company was reassigned from V Corps to 3rd AD as a CSE (originally we were a Light Equipment Company)
1). The 130th patch was removed from our uniforms & replaced with the 3rd AD patch.

The 568th shared the building that also housed the 516th. The 814th was across the way & shared the building that the 130th HQ occupied.

I'm sure there are other vets who were assigned to the 559th during that same timeframe that can verify my statement.

Hopefully, you can make the needed changes to reflect an accurate history of the battalion.

1) CSE = Combat Support Equipment

Webmaster Note:
Further research indicates that the 567th Engineer Company (ADM) was not part of the 559th Engineer Battalion in the 1970s. The ADM company was actually attached to the 547th Engineer Battalion (Darmstadt) and was located at Francois Kaserne in Hanau.
