580th Engineer Company (Source: Thomas Rizzo) Photo shows what a portable liquid oxygen plant looked like. The trailer on the left was made up of four generators and 4 air compressors. The four vents on the top of the trailer is where the air was sucked into the compressors and forced through the line to the other trailer in Pcture #2. When the air went through an expansion valve it turned to a liquid when it entered the second trailer. In the second trailer if was purified to 98% liquid oxygen. The liquid oxygen was used to propel the Redstone Missile. (Photo taken at Kuhberg.)
