Storck Barracks and Illesheim Army Airfield, late 1980s (Source: Bruce Collins) Looking for information on when this major airfield project (aircraft parking apron) at Illesheim started and when it was completed. In the late 1980s and early 1990s, several major Army airfields in Germany were upgraded. These large parking aprons including hangar access aprons, aircraft wash aprons and hot refueling pads were constructed as part of a major project to support the stationing of AH-64 and UH-60 helicopters.
