9th Engineer Battalion, 1959 (Source: Jerry Broussard) As part of a training exercise, 9th Engr Bn established a bridge and ferry crossing over the Rhine near Worms in early 1959. Three of the battalion's four companies participated in the bridging operation, in which a 950-foot-long Class 60 Floating Bridge was placed in service in 5½ hours.
