7774th Signal Battalion (Source: Jack Emanuelson, 1954) This is the KL-7, that replaced AFSAM-1. It is shown with the HL-1B, that would take a TTY tape and feed it to the KL-7 so that the operator would not have to type 5-letter groups. The HL-1 also worked with the AFSAM-1. The HL-1 would skip the space between code groups, but had to be manually stepped to account for the page information.
