A great shot of the Sahin Tepesi tropo site during a visit by Brig Gen Higginson and some of his staff around 1964/65.

Walter, Building A is the Civil Eng shop (wasn't there in 1963/early 1964); Bldg B = motor pool/garage (no gas pump either in1963);
Bldg C = power generators; Bldg D = radio relay communications. The mess/rec hall & barracks bldgs are below & left of antenna #7.
The gate house was not there in 1963/early 1964 (I left there in March 1964).
The buildings covered 3 different levels on Sahin Tepesi hill.

Tropo dishes 1 & 2 were 60 ft to Yamalar/Izmir; dishes 3 & 7 were originally 15 ft to Eskisehir; dishes 4 & 6 were 30 ft to Ankara;
dish 5 & another dish hidden behind Bldg D & opposite from #3 were originally 15 ft dishes to Corlu. Later in the 1960s the 30 ft dishes
were replaced with 60 ft billboards, which represented 120 ft dish segments; possibly with an upgrade in radio eqptmt.

Izmir & Ankara radios were 10kw water cooled tropo; Corlu & Eskisehir radios were 1kw air cooled MRC-80 (a modified TRC-24).
The Ankara radio was a civilian version of the Izmir military version... (so we were told).
